Kepler’s 70th Anniversary Merch Line
Brand Extension · Illustration · Product Design
A comprehensive visual refresh of merchandise honoring seven decades of community, literature, and cultural activism at Kepler’s Books. The rebrand balanced countercultural history and modernity — celebrating the store’s legacy while positioning it for a vibrant, evolving future.
Design Process
The merchandise line was created as part of Kepler’s 70th anniversary celebrations, expanding the rebrand into physical, collectible pieces. Drawing from the store’s rich photographic archive, I reimagined historic imagery — including an artistic rendering of the original storefront — across a new line of T-shirts, drinkware, and bags. I also revived a logo from the 1980s, translating it into a modern tote design that bridges the store’s visual past with its present. The goal was to create merchandise that felt like a continuation of Kepler’s story: rooted in memory, but vibrant and relevant for a new generation of readers.
Designer’s Note
Designing this line was an exercise in transformation — finding new life in familiar symbols. Working with Kepler’s archival materials reminded me how design can make history tangible again, turning nostalgia into something wearable, shareable, and alive.
